Fashion trends for summer 2012

It is not too late to plan a summer wardrobe and there are many different looks on offer, so finding something that suits should be easy. Retro styles are big news and inspiration can come from the 50s, 60s, or 70s. It is also a good time to opt for a very feminine look. Full skirts and figure-hugging dresses are a good way to show off curves.

Maxi dresses will continue to be popular and they are great for summer holidays. Plenty of new ranges will feature lace detailing and if the item looks vintage, then it is even more in style. Skirts and dresses which have been cut longer at the back than at the front are also going to be popular. As well as showing off legs, the midriff will also be on show as crop tops are back in fashion and will be available in a variety of styles.

Those who are less than confident about their legs will be pleased to hear that skinny jeans and trousers are not going be big news for summer. Wide-cut legs and bell bottomed trousers are back in fashion. However, capri pants are also going to be back and these do have the slim leg look that many people will still want to wear. They are ideal for holidays and can be teamed with ballet flats from Miss KG shoes and fitted t-shirts for a stylish yet casual look.

Choosing from the wide range of items that are available is easier than it might sound. By choosing items that will go well with existing wardrobe pieces and sticking to those that complement one’s colouring and shape, it is easy to create a look which suits the individual and does not just follow what everyone else is doing at the moment.
