Jil Sander puts their vintage spin on this Fall’s hottest trend while Burberry takes their cue from a modern military look with army green hued coats and Royal Airforce flying jackets. YSL put their focus on volume this season showing many layered looks including oversized draped jackets over vests and jersey like knits. To contrast these highly masculine themes, Hermes, always known for the edgy fashion sense, showcases a line heavy in velvet.

Olympic fever has already gripped the nation and it is not surprising that the up-and-coming London Olympic Games have inspired many of the looks for spring/summer 2012. At Paris Fashion Week, Givenchy’s Wimbledon-green suit won over the crowd faster than Usain Bolt can sprint his way to medal success, but while sport is the overarching trend on spring/summer menswear, the trend is associated with varying degrees of success. Turn to designer Dries Van Noten, whose Paris collection consisted of desirable yet minimalist sportswear-inspired looks, for an insight into how this trend can work for the not-so-sporty among us.

In spring 2012, expect to snap up a sporty parka or mac in navy, wet-look brown or upbeat yellow – perfectly practical for British weather. If you don’t want to be missed or if you get caught in the rain, try a red nylon cape for size, as brought to the table by Martin Margiela. Stella McCartney appointed creative director at Addidas

Fashion designer Stella McCartney is set to take over as Addidas’s Olympic Creative Director and will be designing a fashion athletic kit for those taking part in the 2012 games, Stella already designs a best-selling line for the label. A UK adidas official said: ‘This is the ultimate fusion of performance and style,’ at her appointment, Stella’s latest adidas designs include a gorgeous glow in the dark running range, which will be launched soon.

Speaking about her designs that not only look great but are also affordable, Stella said: ‘When you are running in an urban environment, you need to feel safe, when people can see you coming and stand out, especially in winter when it gets dark earlier, but at the same time we used it on a leopard print, so it’s not so masculine and graphic. We also have glow-in-the-dark key rings which have a nice sense of humour, which you can have if you are a man, a woman, or a kid.’
