Spirit of Scotland Tartan

This popular tartan is also known as the Spirit of Scotland because of its flexible color tone and also because this fabric can be worn with all kinds of matches. This purple toned fabric can be matched with all kinds of materials and is ideal for any kind of occasion. The spirit of Scotland can be used for making the ‘short kilt’. This short kilt had been made up of 6 ells of single tartan cloth.

This cloth had been sown with pleats at the back. It also had plain overlapping ends at the front to give it more flair. The entire outfit is being held in place by a leather belt, at the waist. The short kilt has also been known as the forerunner of the kilt that is worn today.

The spirit of Scotland is one of the tartans, which can be woven in any number of materials. The tartan has been best known for its flexible attribute and how it would make the user feel. This also differs according to the fabric and the flexible nature of the tartan makes it vital that you are able to choose the right material. Since the spirit of Scotland is a tartan that can be used in different ways it is suggested that you purchase the fabric depending on how you intend to use it.

  1. I am a quilter and making a quilt for a Scottish scholarship benefit. I would like to purchase the Spirit of Scotland as the main fabric and need about 1 yd of fabric, probably 13 oz as Ineed flexability.
I could use scraps of tartan which sometimes are for sale such as 8 to 10 inches wide and any length or even larger. Do you sell this type of product. Postage is a consideration since I live in California.
    Thank you so much.

  2. YIKES! I see you don’t sell tartans. I thought you did, sorry for the error. No reply to such a silly request is necessary. I need to read for meaning!
