Denim Jackets

The denim jacket, one of the most popular forms of clothing in the 80′s, has recently been making a comeback in the world of men’s fashion. In recent years the denim jacket has been making appearances in both the catwalk and on high streets. Partly responsible for this recent fashion trend are Doctor Who actor, Matt Smith and Kills’ guitarist, Jamie Hince, both of whom have been spotted wearing stone washed denim jackets.

Wearing a Denim Jacket

The best way to wear a denim jacket is with a retro t-shirt and a pair of shorts or chinos. Contrast is obviously a very important aspect of the denim look. It is recommended that you try to avoid the double-denim style, unless you are sporting two very different washes. Usually dark trousers will work better with light denim and vice versa. You can either go for a full casual look with a printed tee or opt for a smarter style with Republic shirts, which would be ideal for a night out.

Another great way to wear denim is to go for the all white look. This can be great if you have a beige or cream jacket and trousers. The added edition of sunglasses and black shoes makes for a great combination and is sure to make you stand out in a crowd. It’s good to have a selection of jackets and coats in your wardrobe and a denim jacket makes for a nice change especially when you’re not wearing jeans.

Keeping warm this winter

With more bad weather and snow predicted, its important to remember to keep warm, but also its just as important to look stylish too, you don’t want to go out all wrapped up resembling the Michelin man or a yeti. So before you head out there are a couple of simple things to remember to keep you stylish and warm.

Layering is always a popular trend but can be hard to get right, when layering women’s clothes make sure wear different thicknesses, start off with a t-shirt or a long sleeved top, add either a jumper or light cardigan and finish off with a warm wool coat. The items below are great for layering and look stylish.

Thick wool jumpers, cardigans and ponchos are popular, if they are chunky, remember to wear a thin t-shirt underneath, anything else will make you too hot and stuffy and adds too much bulk. The ones below are great to wear on a cold day, however I would recommend wearing a lighter coat on top if you’re out and about shopping as you may be cold outside but will soon sweat in stores if you have too many warming layers on.

Girls’ Guide to Winter Coats

It’s that time of year again when a new winter coat is an absolutely essential item of women’s clothing to have. There are always so many styles of winter coats on the market, and it’s often difficult to know which style to go for. This article gives a brief overview of styles on the market, and can therefore help you decide which style you’d like to buy this year.

Short jackets
Short jackets usually stop at the waist or hips. It is often argued that petit girls suit short jackets better than long coats because it makes their legs look longer. One thing to be careful of though is that sometimes short jackets have an open neck and large lapels. Although this may look nice, it’s not particularly practical, and it’s likely you will have to wear a scarf in order to keep your neck warm.

Long coats
A long coat often gives an elegant look like no other, particularly when teamed with a pair of high heels. As mentioned above, this is not always the best style for petit girls. However, if bought from the petit range in a shop then a smaller female may be able to find something to fit her perfectly. Long coats are always good for keeping warm.

Leather jackets
A new leather jacket looks smart. However, be sure to get one that is padded and lined if your main purpose for the coat is to keep warm. The downside is that a real leather jacket is likely to be quite pricey.

Summer sports kits for your local clubs

When it comes to doing sports in winter, you need your kit to be comfortable but to also keep you warm and dry when the weather turns bad and for summer you need it to keep you cool and dry when the temperature rises, so now we are into summer, and the kids are about to break up from school it’s an ideal time to think about changing your sports clubs kit. Working the Sportswear look

Relax and take it easy in this season’s stunning sports-inspired fashion. From soft jersey pants with subtle pleating for a flattering shape, to cool racer-back vests in the cutest colours, forget the sharp, angular lines of 80’s couture and take it down a notch with comfortable luxe fabrics and easy to wear pieces. Sportswear is no longer dominated by designer menswear but now is much more feminine.

Ideal for the jet-set, this look travels well. An oversized vest is perfect as a beach cover-up or teamed with cute white denim shorts and wedge trainers for a stylish evening look. Buy one in every colour for a versatile summer capsule wardrobe; they’re perfect for layering in cooler climes – go metallic for an instant injection of glamour that can take you straight from beach to bar – just throw on a stunning statement necklace.

The new sporty dresses are simply too gorgeous to leave behind! Look for drapes and halter necks in breathable cotton; choose styles with a twist – a sexy zip or an oversized pocket are subtle details that can make this look really work for you.

Keep it simple with plain white fitted t-shirts and basic shapes – easy pieces that are no effort to wear and take up little room in your wardrobe or suitcase.

Create your own athletic look with touchable grey marl, sweatshirt fabrics, slouchy harem pants and silky tactile parkas. Look for joggers with up-to-the-minute contrasting waistbands and show off your sporty bralet with a stretch cardigan; yes this look allows the wearing underwear as outwear – radical!

This look is easy and luxurious but a word of caution: don’t ruin the essence with worn-out old running shoes – go for soft leather gladiators or a strokable low-heeled suede mule. And don’t even THINK about working out…
