The six British menswear designers sponsored by NEWGEN MEN will showcase their spring/summer 2013 collections at the inaugural London Collections: Men. This new event will become a regular feature on the international fashion calendar every January and June.
NEWGEN catwalk sponsorship goes to Lou Dalton. Her show is based on the themes of collecting and obsession.
‘Sibling’, made up of Joe Bates, Sid Bryan and Cozette McCreery, also receives catwalk sponsorship. Between the three of them they have worked for Lanvi, Alexander McQueen, Giles Deacon, Bella Freud and Jonathan Saunders.
Christopher Raeburn is known for high quality intelligent design and fine attention to detail, producing well crafted garments. His label, along with Matthew Miller and Martine Rose, receives presentation sponsorship. The jewellery label ‘Bunney’ receives installation sponsorship.
The NEWGEN MEN initiative awards sponsorship to emerging design talent in menswear. There is a financial award to assist in displaying winners’ collections, as well as business mentoring.
The judges this year include Lulu Kennedy, founder of Fashion East. She also helped set up MAN which supports emerging menswear design talent. Each season young designers are selected by a panel of stylists, journalist and buyers. They receive a financial award, assistance with show production, and expert business support to help them launch their labels.
The MAN designers for spring/summer 2013 are Agi and Sam, who previously worked at Alexander McQueen; Astrid Anderson, a graduate of the Royal College of Art; and Central Saint Martin’s trained Shaun Samson.
