Spring hair

Spring is also a great time to change the way we wear our hair too, with new colours and styles that will refresh and revamp your hair ready for summer.  The dark colours that we saw during autumn/winter are replaced with bright and breezy shades of blonde, either go for a full head of blonde highlights or add some here and there to lighten your colour. From creamy caramel and warm honey tones to bright, platinum white, blonde is back in a big way.

Many designers featured blonde haired models sporting the just from the beach look which is an easy style to recreate. Using ghd sea spray, dry it into your hair to create a matte texture for a distressed beach babe look for day. For evening pick up on the wave trend as seen on the catwalks, this is again anther easy look to create, using your ghd hair straightners insert vertically at the roots, holding the ends of the hair with your free hand. Turn the styler around 180 degrees, gently and slowly pulling it down the hair lengths until you reach the ends.

Underwear as outerwear

At the end of last year a trend that started to filter out into women’s clothing was underwear being worn as outerwear, over winter it was black lace and sequins however as we are heading into spring summer the trend is still here but now in pastel and ice-cream shades.

Some celebrities braved this look last winter however a few more have this year the look doesn’t mean you have to wear your lacy underwear above your other clothes but more like a lacy light top mixed with a jacket or a lace body and skinny jeans. As well as lace corsets are also back in girly colours from this season pallet.

Beach babe hair for spring/summer 2010

This look took a hiatus the past couple of years but it’s now back in force, the dishevelled, tousled tresses are updated slightly with a flirty flick of fringe falling above one eye.

This look is easily achieved by scrunching ghd sea spray into damp hair, missing out the fringe also apply ghd obedience cream to the fringe and blow-dry it to the side you can then rough dry the rest of your hair, to finish off the look take your ghd straighteners and going from the root rotating 180 degrees toward the crown and lifting vertically towards the ends and flick out to create a sleek and heavy asymmetric fringe crossing the forehead that kicks out at the ends.

Summer looks

Although it feels like it’s a bit early to start looking for summer clothes those styles have been slowly filtering into women’s fashion for the past month, this year wear are seeing a mix of bright patterns, nautical style and faded vintage look.

The trends that were seen on the catwalks were big bold prints on long flowing dresses and light floaty tops as well as a huge nautical influence with navy blues and bright reds and many designers used denim a lot with faded vintage looking styles mixed with light girly tops.

Valentine’s Day gifts she will love

It’s another time of year that men hate, Valentine’s Day, stuck with the question what do I get her? There are many gifts women will love to receive women’s clothing coming near the top after expensive jewellery i.e. engagement ring and perfume. If you are going to buy your better half clothing its worth having a look at what she has to check sizing rather than making the mistake of guessing!

If your not sure what clothes to buy underwear is another good idea but again check sizes first, if you are a little put off about picking something in the right size you can always look for some pretty accessorises like a scarf or hat or even splash out for a new back.

London Fashion Week joins forces with the Baftas

An announcement yesterday heralds a new era for fashion and film in the UK, the British Fashion Council is joining forces with Bafta “create and develop links between London’s fashion and film industries”. This sets the stage for next week when London Fashion Week and the Baftas coincide making it a glamorous week in the capital. After the huge success of the 25th anniversary of London Fashion Week in September last year now is a great time to boost the popularity with two huge events that take place in the capital.

Designers will be fighting to have their newest creations show cased on the stars who attend the Baftas not to mention the ones who are up for awards, it will be a great way to advertise but also give the Baftas the style boost it lacks compared to our American counterparts who manage style so easily for their awards shows like the Oscars. On the first day of Fashion Week designers get the chance to speak to nominees at a cocktail party held by Lancôme and British actress Kate Winslet in the hope of getting them into their creations for the big night.

Catwalk styles for your hair

This season the catwalk was awash with texture so you don’t need to put your ghd straighteners or curling irons down just yet. You can go sleek and straight like at Donna Karan or brushed out crimped lengths at Diane Von Furstenberg or rough, matte braids at Alexander Wang. Waves are also back with force with variations seen across the catwalks like Dior or Versace.

These styles can be easily recreated with either your ghd’s or curling tongs to get great glamorous looks like the designers.
